Our peer-review processes ensure that not only specific pieces of work are discussed, but that bigger picture issues of governance and strategy are also regularly considered. The Client Think Tank forum is where Directors can discuss complicated client matters and obtain valuable assistance from their colleagues to ensure that clients receive the expertise of not just the lead and second Directors, but ITS as a whole, at no additional cost.

Chris was one of the founding Directors of ITS in 1991, becoming Managing Director in 1997 and executive chairman in 2018.
He is a well known industry figure who has led our work in a number of high profile schemes, some of which have involved periods of particular challenge to the trustees. Chris has also acted an as expert witness in court.
Chris has received a number of personal accolades including âIndependent Trustee of the Yearâ awards and being named in the Most Influential People in Pensions lists on multiple occasions.
Chris is an Accredited Member of the APPT.
Jon is currently a Non-Executive Director at Ted Baker, Bonhill, Serinus Energy and FireAngel. He is also a Trustee of the Delta Pension Scheme which undertook a large pensioner buy-out when he was the CFO.
Jon is a Chartered Accountant and has spent much of his career after qualifying with Price Waterhouse in publicly listed companies. He has been CFO at Fii Group, Linden, Low & Bonar, Delta, Wincanton, Utilitywise, Frasers Group, and recently undertook a short interim CFO role at FireAngel. In some of these positions the Groups had legacy pension schemes and Jon got very familiar with UK defined benefit schemes.
Hetal joined ITS from university in 1999, becoming a Director in 2005.
He runs a portfolio of ongoing clients, and has also led a number of special projects, including the tracing and recovery of misappropriated assets.
Hetal is an Associate of the Pensions Management Institute and an Accredited Member of the APPT.
Janine is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries who joined ITS in September 2015.
Prior to joining us Janine, who is based in Manchester, spent 20 years with a leading advisory firm predominantly acting as Scheme Actuary and corporate adviser. She has also served as scheme secretary to a number of pension schemes, so brings a truly rounded perspective to the trustee role.
Janine has advised on a variety of pensions issues including liability management, asset de-risking, scheme mergers and corporate transactions. Her wide experience across both DB and DC schemes extends to winding up both kinds of arrangement.
Janine is an Accredited Member of the APPT.
With over 20 yearsâ experience in pensions, Rachel is a Director of ITS, representing the firm as Lead Director on professional trustee appointments in relation to pension schemes with assets between £25m and £2.5bn, some of which have Pensions Regulator involvement. Most of her time is spent on leading trustee appointments, and she is also a statutory director of the firm.
Rachel is a qualified Solicitor and Fellow of the Pensions Management Institute. She holds the PMI Level 3 Certificate in Pension Trusteeship Units 1 (formerly APT) and 2 (the new Soft Skills Exam) and is an Accredited Member of the Association of Professional Pension Trustees.
Prior to joining ITS, Rachel was UK Governance Leader for Mercerâs Retirement Business.
John joined ITS in January 2020 from Coats Group plc, where he was Group Pensions Director, via an interim Head of Pensions role at Manchester Airport Group.
After a time at insurance companies and consultancies, John has held senior in-house Head of Pension roles including at National Grid and Sainsburyâs Supermarkets.
John is a Fellow of the Pensions Management Institute and an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute.
He is also an Accredited Member of the APPT.

Dinesh, who joined ITS in October 2016 has a background in managing domestic and international pension arrangements with some of the UK’s most prominent employers. Most recently he was the Global Head of Pensions and Benefits at Britvic Soft Drinks prior to which he was Head of Pensions at the John Lewis Partnership.
Dinesh has wide experience as a Trustee and Chair of trustees, not just of pension schemes, but also of charities.
Dinesh is an Accredited Member of the APPT.
Mark has an advisory background and joined ITS in 2018. His portfolio of schemes includes both DB and DC and includes sole trusteeships. These have a variety of challenges and sizes.
Markâs extensive experience working with trustee boards and sponsors makes him a particularly effective communicator and negotiator. His special interests include strategy development and de-risking.
Mark is an Accredited Member of the APPT.
Helen has been at ITS since 2007, becoming a Director in 2018, and currently has day-to-day responsibility for ITSâs Trustee Support Team.
She has significant experience of providing trusteeship services to a variety of schemes, with specific skills for schemes that are in the process of securing benefits with an insurer, are going through a restructuring exercise or that have entered a Pension Protection Fund (PPF) assessment period. Helen is responsible for our relationship with the PPF.
Helen holds the PMI Award in Pension Trusteeship and is a Fellow of the Pensions Management Institute (FPMI). She is also an Accredited Member of the APPT.
Tegs joined ITS in March 2020. She is a qualified actuary with over 15 years experience in the finance industry, having previously worked in investment consulting, asset management and retail banking.
For the last 10 years, Tegs has been an investment consultant at Mercer and more recently a Strategist,
working with pension schemes to help design a funding and investment strategy that best meets their objectives and delivers member benefits.
Tegs is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries (FIA), and has specialised in risk management to also qualify as a Chartered Enterprise Risk Actuary (CERA).
Akash joined ITS in April 2020 and is our Sole Trusteeship Practice Leader. He is a qualified actuary with over 25 yearsâ experience in pensions consulting. Akashâs main area of expertise is bulk annuities and he has arranged some of the most interesting transactions in the market â large and small. Prior to that he was an adviser to trustees and sponsors of schemes of all sizes.
He also has experience in GMP Equalisation matters and managing data consulting projects.
Akash is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA). He chairs the IFoA member interest group on bulk annuities and the data sub-group of the industry-wide GMP Equalisation Working Group.
He is an Accredited Member of the APPT.
Sarah has worked in pensions in the North West for over 30 years; as a pensions consultant in two major consultancies, Mercer and KPMG. In these roles, she advised on DB and DC pensions, and was involved in a number of liability reduction exercises, scheme closures and wind-ups. Prior to joining ITS, Sarah subsequently worked for 11 years at the Co-op group, where she was Head of Trustee Services and Secretary to the £11bn DB/DC hybrid scheme.
She has extensive experience in dealing with challenging pension issues, building positive engagement with all stakeholders and has implemented many complex scheme strategy changes and led on improvements to scheme governance.
Sarah is an Associate of the Pensions Management Institute, and an Accredited Member of the APPT.
Frank joined ITS in May 2018 having held several senior leadership positions as a Senior Partner at Mercer.
He brings deep experience in managing DB risk, having worked with clients on numerous transactions and successfully lead Mercerâs Global proposition and growth in that space until his retirement from the firm in 2017.
Frank is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries and previously held the position of Chair of Staple Inn Actuarial Society. He is also an Accredited Member of the APPT.
Andy joined ITS in 2017. He combines his work at ITS with being a trustee of the Invensys Pension Scheme which is a £5bn, predominantly DB, hybrid scheme.
Andy has a financial background, originally from the insurance sector.
He was previously the CFO at Rothesay Life and at Paternoster, two bulk annuity specialists. Prior to that he worked for the Prudential in a number of finance roles, ultimately moving into marketing where he was responsible for the profitability of the Prudentialâs pension business.
Andy is an Accredited Member of the APPT.
Dianne first became a Pension Trustee in 2007 and joined ITS in 2015. She leads our work in the DC arena, with experience across DC master trusts, single employer schemes, Independent Governance Committees and sole trustee appointments.
With over 30 yearsâ experience in investment, governance and trusteeship in Australia and the UK, Dianne is especially interested in enhancing member outcomes through effective member communications and engagement.
Dianne holds the PMI Certificates in DC Governance and Trusteeship, and is a member of the Association of Professional Pension Trustees.
She is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia, a graduate in Arts and Business (BA, MBA (Hons)), and an Accredited Member of the APPT.
Graham Bryant joined ITS in January 2018 after a long career with Shell, the last 13 years as a manager in Group Pensions.
He has a varied business finance background and experience in a wide range of pension schemes, working with both sponsor and trustee boards across all aspects from benefit reviews, valuations and chairing an investment committee.
He has led project teams carrying out scheme wind-ups and buy-outs including innovative insurance transactions. He is also a Trustee Director of the Shell Contributory Pension Fund.
Graham is a qualified chartered accountant with a Masters in accounting and finance and has the Award in Pension Trusteeship. He is also an Accredited Member of the APPT.
Nita, who has a legal and company secretarial background, joined ITS in 2010.
She represents ITS on a variety of schemes, both DB and DC, and has been involved in all stages of the lifecycle of a pension scheme from setting up both DB and DC schemes to scheme closure, buy ins and buy outs and transfers to master trust.
In addition to being a qualified solicitor, Nita is an accredited mediator and sits on the council of the Association of Professional Pension Trustees where,  as current Chair, she was heavily engaged  in the establishment of the accreditation regime for professional pension trustees.
Nita is an Accredited Member of the APPT.
Paul joined ITS as a Director from Insight Investment Management, where, amongst other things, he led the client-facing team for 10 years.
Paul builds good strong relationships, is a proven team player, has an open and curious nature and is constructively challenging. He understands investments and risk thoroughly and how this fits into the wider scheme governance and decision-making, having worked closely with numerous pension trustee boards and their sponsoring employers.
Paul has extensive experience of investments of all major asset classes, LDI, ESG, scheme funding journeys, investment strategy, end game options, risk management and compliance/governance-related matters. He has previously worked for GRE Assurance and HSBC, as well as Threadneedle and Credit Suisse Asset Management, running their pension solutions teams in the UK and across Europe.
He is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
Rachael is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, holds the Pensions Management Institute Award in Pension Trusteeship and is also an Accredited Member of the Association of Professional Pension Trustees (AMAPPT).
Prior to joining ITS Rachael, who is based in the Midlands, spent over 24 years as a pension consultant and scheme governance expert with a major consultancy. Rachael was also Scheme Secretary to a number of pension schemes.
Rachael has extensive experience of advising pension scheme trustee boards and sponsoring employers of all sizes on a range of complex pensions issues and in a variety of sectors. She has helped clients with their journey plans and has been involved in managing several pensions-related projects such as scheme mergers and de-mergers, wind-ups, and member option exercises.
Brian has over 12 yearsâ experience as a trustee of the Standard Life Staff Pension DB and DC schemes, combined with several yearsâ experience as chair and vice-chair of the NHS Pension Board in Scotland. He combines this with over 20 yearsâ wider Financial Services experience in all aspects of Operational Risk Management and Customer Service Improvement programmes.
As one of his areas of subject matter expertise, he has also led security reviews of third-party suppliers and sits on Pension Boardsâ Cyber Incident Response Teams.
He has also been a non-executive âcritical friendâ on pension system improvement and procurement project boards.
Brian is an influential strategist with significant experience in corporate transactions and de-risking such as closure of schemes to future accrual and buy-in. Brian chaired the Audit Committee of the Scottish Police Authority for several years and is a former Director of Information Security.
Ian is a fully Accredited Professional Trustee with over 40 years of pensions experience in relation to defined benefit and defined contribution plans. Prior to joining ITS, Ian was the Chairman of Independent Trustee Limited (ITL) which is now part of the ITS group.
Ian was the Senior Partner at specialist pensions City law firm Sackers for 16 years and advised as a lawyer to a large number of DB and DC pension schemes on matters including funding and valuation discussions, governance, and corporate activity. He gained extensive pensions law experience on a wide range of issues.
Ian is an Accredited Member of the Association of Professional Pension Trustees (AMAPPT) and former Chairman. He is also a member of the Association of Pension Lawyers where he was a former Chairman and Secretary.
For several years, Ian was named as one of the top 50 people in pensions by Engaged Investor. Awarded a British Empire Medal (BEM) for services to the community in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham (2019).
Graeme joined ITS in April 2022. He has four decades of professional experience across the financial services industry with a range of organisations focusing on asset management, corporate finance and sustainable investment.
Most recently, he was Chief Operating Officer of the Principles for Responsible Investment, an UN-supported sustainable investment initiative.
Before this he was a senior member of the global value and quality growth equities teams at AB Bernstein and Vontobel Asset Management. Graeme is a Master Trust board member and a non-executive director of the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) Association. He also serves on the finance and investment committees of two UK charities.
With over 25 years in the pensions industry, including five years as the legal director of a leading financial services company, Jennifer joined ITS in May 2022 as an Associate Director.
A qualified pensions lawyer and an Accredited Member of the APPT, Jennifer has extensive experience as an independent trustee, pension scheme secretary and legal adviser to trustee boards. She has worked with a variety of schemes in multiple industry sectors.
She specialises in pension scheme governance, supporting trustee boards in fulfilling their obligations to members in an efficient and effective way, and has carried out several pension manager secondment roles as and when needed by clients.
Jennifer has helped trustee boards with their journey plans and has been involved in managing several pensions-related projects such as buy-ins, member option exercises, adviser selection, administration outsourcing and GMP rectification/equalisation projects.
Brian has been at ITS since 2019 as Chief Operating Officer. He is a Chartered Accountant and prior to ITS, his roles have included Chief Operating Officer for an Aviation Industry start-up managing the eventual trade sale and setting up a consultancy business supporting a range of companies.
He specialises in leading growing businesses, setting strategic goals and delivering them, adding value through successful M&A integration, providing leadership and development to internal teams.
Ian joined ITS as Sales & Marketing Director at the beginning of 2020, joining from Capita Employee Solutions where he was Head of Sales (Pensions & Benefits).
Ian has over 30 yearsâ experience of business development and marketing roles in pensions, employee benefits, retail financial services, life insurance and general insurance sectors.
Jas joined ITS as Sales & Marketing Manager in March 2022. Prior to joining ITS Jas, who is based in Sheffield, spent 17 years in the pensions industry working in bid management and sales roles for Capita Pension Solutions, most recently as Head of Bid Management.
Jas will be responsible for working collaboratively with the Sales & Marketing Director, Ian Terry, in the day-to-day management of the implementation of ITS’s annual Sales & Marketing Plan.
Som joined ITS in 2008 having worked for several years in pensions administration. He was part of the discontinued schemes team firstly at Higham Group (now part of Capita) and then at Mercer.
At ITS, Som carried on his work on the wind-up of discontinued schemes including several FAS and PPF cases as well as solvent buyouts.
He has recently taken up a new role as Sales & Marketing Executive supporting Directors on new business opportunities and related sales and marketing tasks including development of promotional material, maintenance of client databases, management of social media content and website development.
Louise joined ITS as Head of Professional Operations in January 2021 from Barnett Waddingham where she was a Senior Project Specialist. At ITS she is responsible for professional risk management and compliance with professional standards.
She has over 30 yearsâ experience in the pensions industry having provided administration and governance services to a range of trust based DB and DC schemes prior to moving into project management.
She is a Fellow of the Pensions Management Institute and a qualified PRINCE2 practitioner.
Sue joined ITS in 2010 and works alongside our professional trustees on a portfolio of on-going schemes, undertaking a range of scheme management activities. Prior to ITS, she worked for two years with the Pension Protection Fund, as a relationship manager for a large third-party administrator.
She has also worked closely with the in-house pension management teams at BT and Atos Origin supporting discrete pension scheme restructuring exercises. She is a member of the Pensions Management Institute (PMI) and holds the PMI Award in Pension Trusteeship and DC Governance.
She is also an Accredited Member of the APPT.
Jacqui has been at ITS since 2009, having previously been at a leading firm of pension consultants where she provided Technical support for Trustee bodies and employers and was involved in preparing and presenting a wide variety of Trustee Training programmes. She became a Senior Trust Officer at ITS in 2018, and currently has day-to-day responsibility for one of the ITS Trustee Support Teams.
She has significant experience of providing trusteeship services to a variety of schemes, with specific skills for schemes that are in the process of securing benefits with an insurer, are going through a restructuring exercise or that have entered a Pension Protection Fund (PPF) assessment period.
Jacqui holds the PMI Award in Pension Trusteeship, and is an Accredited Member of the APPT.
Paul joined ITS in October 2018 having worked in all aspects of Trust-based pensions administration and projects for over 20 years.
Paulâs role at ITS sees him form part of our Pension Protection Fund team and provide Scheme Secretary services to a number of ongoing schemes.
Paul is an Accredited Member of the APPT.
Karen joined ITS in 1998. Since joining ITS, Karen has been primarily involved in the running of discontinued schemes, with significant experience in scheme wind ups and buy outs and taking Schemes through PPF assessment.
In addition, Karen has recently taken on a support role in ongoing sole trusteeships and is the appointed Secretary to the Trustees for 2 ongoing Schemes.
Karen holds the PMI Award in Pension Trusteeship.
Michael joined ITS in April 2020 and has over 12 yearsâ experience working with Trust based occupational pension schemes. He began his career with Mercer in 2007 as a graduate, where he worked for 8 years providing pension consulting and Trustee secretariat services for a portfolio of clients.
Michael has also worked for the in-house Trustee support teams at the sponsoring employers of two of the UKâs largest private-sector pension schemes.
Ian joined ITS in November 2020 from Capita, where he was responsible for a team administering  more than 20 DB, DC and hybrid occupational arrangements ranging in size from £10m to in excess of £1bn.
Duties also extended to secretarial and consultancy appointments. Earlier in his career he held administration positions at JLT and MHA Pensions. He is a Fellow of the Pensions Management Institute.
Jason joined ITS in August 2021 having worked in third party administration for the previous 20 years. During this time he has worked on all aspects of Trust based pension administration and provided Trustee secretariat, together with project management services.
Jason is a member of the Pensions Management Institute (PMI).
Bang joined ITS in August 2021 from the London Borough of Bromley, previously working there as a Pensions Manager. She started her pensions career at the Government Actuaryâs Department as a trainee actuary specialising in Staff Transfer for the public sector, before moving onto private pension actuarial consultancy at Willis Tower Watson in 2017.
She holds a Diploma in Actuarial Techniques with the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries where she is a student member. She is also a student member of the Pensions Management Institute.
Daniel joined ITS in 2014 from Towers Watson, previously working there as a DC Pensions Consultant. His pensions career started in 2000 doing in-house DB pensions administration for a variety of local government bodies, before moving onto DC consultancy in 2006, prior to joining ITS.
He holds an award in Local Government Pensions Scheme Administration, is part-PMI qualified and has also attained the Award in Pensions Trusteeship (APT).
Clement joined ITS in early 2019 from Mercer having held various position as a Senior Pension Administrator for a number of DB Schemes.
He started his career at Merchant and Navy Pension Administration (MNPA Ltd which later became part of JLT) working there for almost 8 years. He holds the Award in Pension Trusteeship and is a student member of PMI.
Jo joined ITS as a Temporary Secretary in 1996 and is now Personal Assistant to the Executive Chairman. She has experience of working in a very busy and demanding environment both at Board and Director Level.
During the course of her employment with ITS, Jo has seen and adapted to many different situations in order to meet the evolving needs of the Board, Directors and Clients.
Eden Joined ITS in September 2021 as a Personal Assistant to Mark Evans as well as providing support to the sales and marketing department.
Eden previously worked for a large Southeast London Law firm as a paralegal and team assistant where she gained valuable organisational and customer service skills.
She enjoys building strong relationships with her peers and clients and she is looking forward to assisting the team with their future marketing and planning programs.
Amelia joined ITS as a Personal Assistant in April 2022, providing support to Directors as well as the Trust Support Team. Â Previously she had been working as a team PA for a corporate company.
Since joining ITS, Amelia has enjoyed working in a busy environment helping support her colleagues and ITS as the firm continues to grow.
